Practical Nursing

The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia has been working with the Ministry of Health to confirm the new Entry Level Competencies of LPN's. The new competencies include content that is not presently covered in the educational program in the province. Based on the changes to the competencies, there may be significant changes to the PN curriculum. Program admission requirements may also change. It is expected that program length will be increased to add at least one additional semester for a possible length of 16 months. Graduates of the new program may receive a Diploma in Practical Nursing instead of the current Certificate.
As well, because of the recent changes to the math curriculum at the secondary school level anticipated changes to prerequisites for Math would require completion of either Grade 11 Foundations of Mathematics with a C grade, or Grade 11 Pre-Calculus with a C grade.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing Three-Year Fast Track Option

A three-year fast track program option is currently available to BSN students enrolled in the September intake. A two-year LPN Access program option will be available starting September 2010. For details, please see Additional Information.
Dental Hygiene Diploma Accredited

The Dental Hygiene program at the University of the Fraser Valley is a CDAC accredited program.
Home Support/Resident Care Attendant Program Name Change

Please note that commencing June 2009, the HS/RCA program title will change to Health Care Assistant (HCA) in accordance with the new provincial curriculum. The graduates of the new Health Care Assistant program will continue to be employed in the same roles and practice settings as HS/RCA graduates.
Please indicate on the UFV application form that you are applying to the HS/RCA program.
