Welcome From the Dean

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Health Sciences and the University of the Fraser Valley.

We are a vibrant and diverse community of educators, practitioners, scholars and life-long learners— and we are unified by our vision of a better society achieved through understanding, promoting, and delivering health.

Our definition of health is broadly conceived, involving training practitioners for specific positions within the health care system, as well as creating and disseminating knowledge and better understanding of the determinants of health and wellness.

We believe that one person, one group, one organization, one community can make a difference in the world. Our faculty and professional staff influence the lives of our students and the people of our community. Faculty members’ research and scholarship is integrated in their teaching, bringing to the classroom real world problems and solutions, and service learning assignments for students. We seek to provide the best undergraduate education in Canada.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll explore our website to discover more about our Faculty and the opportunities we provide at UFV.

With best wishes,

Joanne MacLean, PhD
Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences
