Apprenticeship Training

A trade apprenticeship could be your ticket to better wages and career prospects.

The Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Endorsement is commonly referred to in the trades as your "ticket," because of the opportunities it opens. Earning you Red Seal enables you to work anywhere in Canada and shows to prospective employers that you are a skilled worker.

UFV offers apprenticeship training for the following trades:

Auto Service Technician
Professional cook

As an apprentice, you learn while you earn and train under the supervision of an employer. The apprenticeship program combines on-the-job experience with formal technical training.

An apprenticeship may take up to four years to complete. At the end of the program, apprentices write a final completion exam to earn their Certificate of Apprenticeship and Red Seal Endorsement. Upon earning a grade of at least 70%, they become fully qualified journeypersons.

The decision to quit my job and go to university was scary at first, but the UFV Hospitality Event Planning program set me up for career success.

I gained the skills, knowledge, and confidence to be able to succeed in the event planning industry. I would not be where I am today without the program.
