Life in Abbotsford

Located in the beautiful Fraser Valley, Abbotsford is known as the city in the country. Traditionally a farming community, Abbotsford has spectacular views and is surrounded by Mount Baker (southeast) and the Coast Mountains. Equipped with an international airport and easy access to Vancouver, our city is increasingly growing. Abbotsford is a vibrant, multicultural city, with the third highest proportion of visible minorities in all of Canada outside of Toronto and Vancouver. To serve the public, Abbotsford has a brand new library, recreation centre, hospital, and cultural centre.

Summers in the Fraser Valley are sunny and warm but the winter months see a lot of rain and sometimes snow. For most students the fall and winter are very wet. You may want to “layer” your clothes: start with a light t-shirt, add a long-sleeved shirt, then a sweater or sweatshirt before putting on your winter coat. When you are in class you can take off some of your outer layers if you become too hot.
