UFV launches new 10-month post-degree program

UFV's new post-degree certificate in Data Analysis is a ten-month program designed to equip students with the practical skills they need to turn data into business intelligence.

Trained data analysts are a hot commodity on the job market: more than ever, small and large companies need people who can arrange and interpret data to help spot trends, manage performance, and solve problems.

This post-degree program is ideal for students who already have an undergraduate university degree in Computing Science, Information Technology or Business Administration. It is perfect for students who are not interested in a full Master's degree, but would like to acquire specialized skills that can give them an extra edge in the job market.

Tuition for the ten-month program is $14,000 CAD. Ancillary fees ($300 per semester for 3 semesters) and medical and dental premiums ($860) apply.

Processing invoices for Winter 2012

This is a reminder that the University of the Fraser Valley is currently processing agent commissions for students who are attending UFV for the Winter 2012 session. If you have students at UFV this fall and you have not already sent your invoice, please feel free to email it to Sunita at sunita.kaushal@ufv.ca or fax it at 604.855.7153, attn. Sunita Kaushal.

Note that an invoice must be submitted for each semester you are entitled to a commission. If your student(s) attended first in Fall 2011 and you invoiced us then, you must still submit a new invoice for their second semester.

As you may know, we can pay by cheque or wire transfer. We recommend wire transfers for international transactions, because they are safer and more reliable. Please fill out a wire transfer form if you wish to be paid by wire transfer.

English proficiency test score now required for admission

As of Summer 2012, international students applying at UFV must provide an English language test score (IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent) with their application. An English test score is now required for application to all programs, including ESL.

An English proficiency test score allows us to guarantee registration in academic or ESL courses and to inform students of their placement well in advance of their first semester.

Currently, the minimum English requirement for admission to the ESL program is:

  • IELTS – overall band score of 4.5 (with a minimum band score of 4.0)
  • TOEFL – score of 52 (iBT)

For more information, view the complete list of English language proficiency levels and test scores required for entry into UFV programs

English upgrading at UFV

UFV's ESL program offers four levels of intensive language instruction. The first two levels focus on improving written and spoken English. The top two levels combine English upgrading and academic credit courses, allowing students to transition smoothly to the full-time academic program of their choice.

For a comprehensive overview of UFV's ESL program, view the current ESL and University Foundation brochure.
