International development project agreements UFV is eligible to develop proposals and apply for funds through aid agencies such as the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), or through organizations such as the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) which administers development projects funded by CIDA or other sources. In 2008 we entered into two such agreements:
- CIDA-funded Partnerships for Tomorrow Program: UFV was funded to send one faculty member, a Dean, and a student to St. Petersburg University in Russia as part of a linkage building activity between Russia and Canada in the disciplines of History and Political Science. This has resulted in an ongoing partnership between UFV and St. Petersburg University.
- UFV received a CIDA Stand Alone Public Engagement Fund (SAPEF) grant to host a series of very successful community forums focused on building a “Child Friendly World”. In total, approximately 1,800 people participated from various Fraser Valley communities and the project’s capstone event – featuring Stephen Lewis as speaker – brought over 1000 people to UFV.
