Study tours and field schools

Study tours and field schools are important to the internationalization process. They create opportunities for the participants involved to have meaningful international and cross-cultural experiences. Designed to provide students with a comprehensive and rewarding experience, study tour and field school programs offer a compelling mix of academic and practical training. Participants gain a broader perspective of the world by studying in new places and interacting with new cultures.

Study tours and field schools are not funded by departments. Funding comes from fees students pay to participate. However, academic departments must approve the program and the faculty member must obtain permission from the Dean to teach the proposed course abroad.

Process

  1. Speak to your department head and Dean.
  2. Put together a proposal including budget, risk analysis, and proposed dates and cost to students.
  3. Submit the proposals to the Dean for approval.

Please feel free to consult with UFV International at any time during the process. From the moment that you begin to develop an idea, right through to the departure date, we are glad to be of assistance. Once confirmed, please make sure you link/post the study tour and/or field school on our webpage so we can help you promote the program.
