Medical insurance
As an International student, you are required to have health insurance for the entire duration of your studies at UFV. Under the Medicare Protection Act, enrollment with BC MSP is mandatory for all eligible residents of BC. Basic insurance in British Columbia
If you will be staying in the province of British Columbia for more than six months, you are required by law to enroll in the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) immediately upon your arrival.
The waiting period to receive MSP coverage is approximately three months. For more info on the provincial government’s health plan go to www.healthservices.gov.bc.ca/msp
During this waiting period UFV has selected a comprehensive private health insurance provider for students. For more info about this insurance policy go to www.guard.me/
If you will be staying in British Columbia for less than six months you will not be eligible for MSP insurance. You will be enrolled with the private health insurance provider. More questions about medical insurance?

If you are registering for the Fall semester, students are enrolled in the SUS Health and Dental Plan provided by Student Care. Students are assesed $159.92 for premiums and the insurance policy is valid for a year. For more info on this plan please visit the Student Union Society. |
