Job Description:
The successful applicant will be assisting the MARIN Research Associate in the recruitment of participants for a survey on boating safety for anglers and hunters. This work will be conducted at the BC Boat and Sportsman Show in Abbotsford, BC. Remuneration will be between $12.00 and $15.00 per hour depending on experience and will be delivered through Dalhousie University.
Responsibilities:
Approaching trade show participants to invite them to participate in survey or focus groups
Ensuring that project materials are securely stored while on-site
Directing individuals to the MARIN Research Associate as necessary
Required skills and experience:
Experience working with the public in a noisy environment
Good communication skills
Able to present self in a friendly yet professional manner
Able to keep all information gathered in survey confidential
Comfortable with long work hours: between 5 to 8 hours during trade show days
Able to maintain focus on repetitive task
Experience, skills and traits that would be considered an asset:
Experience collecting survey data
Experience working with human research participants
Access to and ability to drive a car
Optional:
In addition to the survey research, part of this project consists of a series of focus group style interviews. Applicants for the survey assistant position may also be considered as a potential assistant for the focus group interviews, in which case experience with this type of qualitative research would be considered an asset.
