Merv: Hi, I'm the Internet.
Dewey: And I'm a library.

Merv: I'm super easy to use. Just fire up your favorite search engine.
Dewey: I have lots of stuff search engines can't find.

Merv: You mean... there's more than Google?
Dewey: Well, for now, anyway.

Merv: Hi, I'm the Internet.
Dewey: And I'm a library.
Merv: Someone just added information to me.
Dewey: My collection just grew.

Merv: My content was created by the people, for the people.
Dewey: It was a blog about toenail clippings.
Merv: I'm bottom-up, grassroots. You're top-down, the military-industrial complex.

Dewey [looking away from Merv, arms folded]: Well my complex just acquired an illustrated guide to tattoos around the world.
Merv [holding hands out to Dewey]: Ooh, lemmee see!
Dewey: Too late, it's already checked out.

Merv: Hi. I'm the Internet.
Tamara: And I'm a book.

[Merv shows Tamara an ebook] Merv: Look, it's you!
Tamara: Do I really look like that?

Tamara: What happened to my high-quality paper? My fancy binding?
Merv: No one will miss them.

Tamara: These are just pictures. They're not the real me!
Merv: You posed for them. You sold the rights. Deal.

Merv: Hi, I'm the Internet.
[Dewey is reading a book]

Merv: Library?
Dewey: Sorry. I was lost in this novel.

Merv: I've got novels! And lots more -- blogs, news, podcasts...
Dewey: I'm sure it's all great stuff.

Merv: Want to see a hamster playing the bagpipes?
Dewey: Soon as I'm done. Promise

Merv: Hi, I'm the Internet.
Dewey: And I'm a library.

Merv: [Pointing to the book in Dewey's hands] Why are you bothering with those? The information is available online.
Dewey: I need an authoritative source. With you it's hard to tell where anything comes from.

Merv: So?
Dewey: It might be wrong.
Merv: "Wrong?" What's that?

June 26, 2007

Merv: Hi, I'm the Internet. What are you watching, Library?
Dewey [holding a portable DVD player]: A movie. I've had it on hold for months!

Merv [points to self]: Heck, I've had a bootleg version since it was in the theater. You could have downloaded it anytime!
Dewey [looking at Merv]: That wouldn't be legal.

Merv [turned away with arms crossed]: Information wants to be free.
Dewey [hand on chest]: So do I.

June 30, 2007

Merv: Hi, I'm the Internet.
Dewey: And I'm a Library.

Merv: I'm EVERYWHERE!
Dewey: Including at the Library.

Merv: But Libraries are also on the Internet. Do I contain you or do you contain me?
Dewey: We complete each other.
Merv: Just don't try to hug me.
