November 26, 2009 - Paul Whitney, City Librarian for VPL, Presentation

Paul Whitney provided a comprehensive synopsis of events relating to intellectual property in Canada, recent developments with Copyright revisions and an update of the Google Books settlement. Writers, musicians, librarians, students, staff and faculty all attended this enlightening talk.

September 24, 2009 - Geoffrey Glass, co-founder of Vancouver's Fair

Copyright for Canadians Chapter, Presentation Launching off the semester-long discussions of intellectual property rights, Geoffrey Glass challenged his audience to think about the changing nature of copyright law and the true spirit of "intellectual property".

July 18, 2009 - Summer Bowling Fundraiser

$260 was successfully fundraised for the LIBTSA Annual Student Bursary ($500). Thanks go to everyone (students, alumni, friends and family) who came out to support this event, to Dogwood Bowling & Billiards for generously splitting the proceeds 60/40 in our favour, and to Chapters of Langley for the prize donation of an underwater photography book.

February 23, 2009 - LIBTSA's Dress for Success Workshop

LIBTSA will be hosting a workshop on workplace dress on the evening of Monday, Feb. 23 at 7.00pm. It will held at the Sevenoaks Sears in Abbotsford, and family and friends will be welcome. This event will be geared for both men and women, and will cover clothing, makeup and skincare.

Kidsbooks is British Columbia's largest children's specialty bookstore. Amongst many recognitions, Kidsbooks has received the Specialty Bookseller of the Year Award from the Canadian Booksellers Association three times.

December 04, 2008 - New Award Recognizing Student Leadership

The UFV LIBIT department proudly announces the introduction of a new award (available in Spring of 2009), recognizing student achievement in leadership. This $250 award will be available to UFV students in the Library and Information Technology program who have demonstrated leadership through things such as community service, student activities, and volunteerism and are in good academic standing.
In order to build the endowment and offer a larger sum, we encourage alumni and community members to consider contributing to this important award. Information on giving can be found at UFV Giving.
