LIBT 385: Information Rights: Privacy and Freedoms
Duration: October 3, 2016 to November 26, 2016 Class Size: 20 students. Register early to avoid disappointment.
This course will examine how information rights can shape the services provided in information centres. The digitization of information and shifting formats creates numerous uncertainties and tensions between information privacy and access. Students will look at information privacy and freedom in information legislation, issues related to censorship, and the ethics of providing fair and equitable access. Students will also have the opportunity to focus their studies on specific aspects of information rights as it relates to their own employment situations.

New for workplace sponsored students
Are you sponsored by your workplace? If so, it is possible to have your workplace set up a sponsorship agreement with the University of the Fraser Valley. You would be able to register for courses and your workplace would be billed directly for the costs. The sponsorship letter needs to be on official letterhead stating who they are sponsoring, for how long (course by course or for how many courses), the program (Library Technician Post-Diploma Certificate program) and that all tuition and fees are being covered. If the letter is received before you register and it states that they will pay the $200.00 deposit as part of the tuition fee, then you will also not need to pay the deposit up front. The letter needs to be signed and forwarded to the UFV registration department.
