Joe Sunami was born and raised in Japan.  He graduated from Chuo University in Tokyo with a BA in Sociology.  After a stint in sales and marketing for an auto-manufacturer in Japan he pursued his education in North America.  He received an MA in Linguistics from Wayne State University in Michigan, focusing on sociolinguistics.  Joe teaches all levels of Japanese courses from beginner to advanced.  His interests include language contacts and world borrowing in todays' world, Katakana words, discourse analysis, the conservativeness and open-mindedness of Japanese culture and language pedagogy.
