UFV promotes employee health and safety through its Ergonomics program. The Occupational Health & Safety Office (OHSO) fully supports this program by assisting and educating the UFV community on ergonomics: the study of the relationship between people, their work and their physical work environment. The overall purpose of the Ergonomics program is to promote employee health by decreasing workplace exposure to ergonomic risk factors. UFV and the OHSO is fully committed to complying with WorkSafe BC, Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, Ergonomics (MSI) Requirement. It is thus the mandate of UFV and the OHSO to ensure that appropriate assessment of workplace and work processes are conducted to identify risk factors which lead to musculoskeletal injuries (MSI’s). Once risk factors have been identified, it is the responsibility of UFV to eliminate or minimize risk factors contributing to the development of MSI’s. Please complete the Office Ergonomics Self-Assessment Checklist to better familiarize yourself with UFV ergonomic procedures. For more information on the UFV Ergonomics Program download the PDF file or contact the OHSO. Note that requests for workstation assessments must be accompanied by a note from a medical professional.
