Physics Department Course Challenge Policy

Credit for any course may be obtained through Course Challenge or Prior Learning Assessment Recognition (PLAR). See

Course Challenge will consist, for lecture courses, of a minimum requirement of writing and passing a 3 hour final exam. For courses with attached labs, a minimum number of experiments will also have to be performed. For lab-only courses, a minimum number of labs and either a final exam or presentation or both will be required.

  1. For PLAR of lecture courses, this may consist of a departmental review of a portfolio of work done in industry and/or a presentation displaying the necessary expertise. For lab-only courses, a portfolio of experimental work done in industry and/or a presentation will be required. For courses with attached labs, evidence must be presented of experimental work of equal complexity in an industrial setting, along with the lecture course requirements mentioned above.
