Strategic Planning for UFV 2009/2010
Last updated February 15, 2010

A plan for our future: second draft

Thank you to those who have actively contributed to our strategic planning process to date. Your submitted comments and ideas have been thoughtful and have given the Strategic Planning Steering Committee excellent input as they worked to refine the first draft.

I am pleased to share the second draft with you now and to lay out our plans for broad public consultation over the coming weeks.

During the week of February 23, UFV will be hosting six ‘town hall’ meetings across our valley. We are inviting faculty and staff, students and alumni, and the general public to comment on our planning and to provide feedback as we move towards finalizing the plan.

The schedule of sessions is as follows. Please plan to attend one near you:

Chilliwack: Tuesday, February 23
> 11:30 am (Trades and Technology Centre, room 2041), for faculty, staff, and students
> 3 pm (Yale Rd. campus, room A201), for faculty, staff, and students
> 7 pm (Yale Rd. campus, room A201), for faculty, staff, students, alumni, public

Abbotsford: Wednesday, February 24
> 12 noon (King Rd. campus, room B121), for faculty, staff, and students
> 7 pm (King Rd. campus, room A225), for faculty, staff, students, alumni, public

Mission: Thursday, February 25
> 7 pm (Heritage Park campus, room 226D), for faculty, staff, students, alumni, public

For those who cannot attend a meeting in person, you may wish to participate using our interactive comments board, where you can engage in virtual discussions relevant to each of the three proposed goals.

I also promised earlier in this process that all submitted comments would be shared. You can now read all comments submitted to date (see below).

STEP 1:       Download the draft plan here (PDF document).

STEP 2:     Review the comments submitted to date.
    > Initial input (PDF)
    > Feedback to Draft #1 (PDF)

Please consider the environmental impact of printing these documents.

STEP 3:   Participate in the virtual discussion OR
submit your comments using our web form.

I encourage you to review the document and to make your views known at this stage, if you have not done so already. We will be moving towards a final draft very quickly in order to get this stage of the strategic planning through the approval processes of the University Senate and the Board of Governors by the end of April.

We are asking that you respond before Monday, March 1, 2010.

On behalf of the Steering Committee, thank you once again.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mark Evered
President & Vice-Chancellor
