Welcome to Womens Studies
Womens Studies started from a position that critiqued the absence or marginalization of women in traditional culture and scholarship. These critiques opened the doors to a more complex understanding of power and social inequality. Today, Womens Studies also includes studies of class, race, ethnicity, sexuality, ability and globalization as they interact with gender in human experience, cultures and societies. Courses in Womens Studies challenge students to think critically and to understand and appreciate diversity.
