Wear a Sweater

February 6, 2014 UFV's GreenTeam celebrated Sweater Day as a way to promote energy reduction within the university. By layering up in their most comfortable sweaters, the thermostat remained untouched.

GreenTeam's own sweater day is part of a larger event put on by the World Wildlife Fund Canada. Since 2010, WWF Canada has been inspiring people to put on a sweater as a way to reduce heat within businesses and households and therefore reducing the amount of emissions that get put into the atmosphere. If every thermostat in Canada was decreased by 2°C, greenhouse gas emissions would be down by 4 megatons-- the equivalent of shutting down a 600 mega-watt coal powered station.
