Required Criminal Record Check

The University of the Fraser Valley is required to have valid criminal record check completed through the Criminal Records Review Program on file for each student completing a practicum. The Student is responsible for completing the application and providing the $28 payment directly to the Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General.

The School of Social Work and Human Services is registered for the online applicant based criminal record check service. A link, access code, and directions will be provided to you upon acceptance to a School of Social Work and Human Services program.

Sharing Results of a Previous Criminal Records Review Program Record Check

It is possible to have the Ministry share a copy of a current record check upon the following conditions:

  • the record check was completed through the Criminal Records Review Program
  • the record check will be valid throughout your placement
  • the record check clears you to work with children and vulnerable adults

For details, contact the Field Education Assistant Christina O’Brien

Please Note: A local police detachment or RCMP record check cannot be accepted. Record checks completed through these agencies do not meet the requirements set out by the B.C. Government's Criminal Records Review Program. You cannot begin your practicum until we have  received your clearance letter.

Please direct questions concerning criminal record checks to Field Education Assistant Christina O’Brien
