Problem-Based Learning
Jan 14, 2013, 3 pm - 4:30 pm, CEP 1355
Facilitator: Wendy Burton

This session will provide an overview of Problem-based learning (PBL), a student-centered teaching, where students learn through a guided series of complex and realistic problems. Often referred to as inquiry-based learning, PBL can assist students to develop knowledge as well as effective problem-solving and collaboration skills. PBL promotes self-directed and internally-motivated learning. The instructor, at times referred to as the tutor in PBL, facilitates learning through effective scaffolding and support. PBL provides effective alternatives to lecture-based education.
