Cathy Anderson (Chilliwack Campus)
Cathy loves partnering with students on their educational journeys. She has worked in the education department at SFU, as an early childhood educator in Austin, Texas and as an educational advisor at the University of the Fraser Valley for 6 years. Living outside of Canada for over 16 years in England, Denmark and the United States has given her a fine appreciation for all things Canadian, and for the many opportunities available to students at UFV.
Cathy holds a diploma in General Studies from UFV, a BA in French/English from SFU, and received her Life Coach training from the Coaches Training Institute in San Rafael, California. She has advice for confused students seeking a fulfilling life and career-“Get curious about yourself and the world around you, and become an active participant in your own journey!”

Peggy Bray (Abbotsford Campus)
Peggy comes from the online learning environment at Thompson Rivers University Open Learning (TRU-OL). As well, she brings experience in employment skills development and teaching elementary school, specifically primary grades and learning assistance. She loves to share her experiences with students and assist them to make their dream of post-secondary education become a positive reality for them. A keener for fitness and healthy living, Peggy also enjoys gardening, visiting art galleries and attending choral music and theatre productions.

Eddie Campbell (Abbotsford Campus)
Eddie provides 20+ years experience to Educational Advising at UFV.  He enjoys seeing students as they progress through their programs and meet their educational and career goals.  Eddie graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology.  Eddie’s other employment experiences included work as an Educational Advising Assistant at the Open Learning Agency, Student Life Coordinator with the Technical University of BC (now SFU, Surrey campus), Immigrant Settlement worker with Volunteer Richmond Information Services and Kiwassa Neighbourhood House.

Isabel Hay (Chilliwack Campus)
Isabel has been with UFV for over 20 years bringing experience from a variety of different departments such as Admissions/Registration, ESL, Assessment Services and the Disability Resource Centre.  A lifelong learner she began her post-secondary journey with a certificate in Hairdressing, then moved to Early Childhood Education and to a Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education.  Most currently she has completed a post graduate certificate in academic advising and a Master of Science in Adult and Continuing Studies at Kansas State University.

Bobby Jaswal (Abbotsford Campus)
Bobby has been helping students plan their education for a few years at UFV.  She completed her Criminology degree at SFU and has worked in a variety of areas related to that.  She enjoys seeing where students are headed with their educational and career goals and enjoys giving advice as to how to ensure attainment of those goals. 

Nicholas Johnson (Abbotsford)
Nicholas is very familiar with the BC post-secondary education system: he graduated in BC and has worked in university departments ranging from undergraduate to post-graduate since 2000.  An experienced educational advisor, Nicholas is passionate about student success and enjoys working with students at all stages of their academic lives, teaching them how to develop plans to achieve their goals.

Vanessa Krahn (Chilliwack Campus)
Vanessa brings a variety experience to Advising, from high school teaching to post-secondary work. She began her education at UFV (when it was the University College of the Fraser Valley) and transferred to UBC to complete and graduate with a BSc in Mathematics. She also obtained her Bachelor of Education at UBC. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Fraser Valley (and overseas in Australia) for a few years, and then began work at UFV as a Co-op Coordinator for Science and Technology in 2012. She has been in Advising since beginning of 2013 and enjoys working with students of all ages as they move forward in their educational journey.

Kristen Switzer (Abbotsford Campus)
Kristen has worked as an Advisor in Student Services at UFV since January 2010. She has a good understanding of the post secondary system as she has worked for 3 Universities both in Alberta and BC in various departments such as Athletics/Recreation, Recruitment and Advising. She has a BA in Kinesiology from the University of Lethbridge and an MEd from Simon Fraser University in Educational Leadership in Post Secondary and Student Affairs. She is passionate about her work with students and enjoys the student centred environment that UFV creates for their students.  

Kirsten Darrach Trustham (Abbotsford Campus)
Kirsten has a strong understanding of the post-secondary system obtained through both her professional and educational experiences.  Kirsten started her post-secondary studies at Simon Fraser University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Major in Criminology.  She later attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology where she completed an Associate Certificate in Event Marketing and a Management Certificate in Marketing Communications.  With Kirsten’s life-long passion for education, there could not be a better career than Educational Advising.  She finds immense value in working with students to help them discover and achieve their own personal and academic goals.  Before joining the Educational Advising team at the University of the Fraser Valley, Kirsten worked as the Bachelor of Arts Degree Advisor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.  Kirsten loves being a part of UFV’s team, as she truly believes in the student-centered approach embraced by the school at-large.
