Professional cook is a nationally designated trade under the Interprovincial Red Seal program. Earning your Professional Cook Red Seal Endorsement marks you as a skilled worker, opening job opportunities for you across Canada.
UFV offers Levels 1 and 2 of the Professional Cook Apprenticeship program; however, there are a total of three levels to get your Red Seal.
If you are not currently working as a cook, you may consider taking UFV's Culinary Arts Foundation course to gain the entry-level skills needed to secure employment. This 39-week program includes Level 1 and 2 Professional Cook certification as well as practical cooking experience in UFV's cafeteria.

If you are enrolled in an apprenticeship program administered through the Industry Training Authority (ITA), you may qualify to receive grants and subsidies.

There are also tax credits available for employers sponsoring students through their apprenticeships.
