The East African Internship Program offers funded internships to Kenya & Tanzania made possible by Queen Elizabeth Scholarships. Interns will get the chance to work along side an East African NGO, developing their skills and gaining new experience. (GEOG 398, GDS 311, SOC 398, or INCS 390)

Indian Internship

Indian Internship program with the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship offers students the chance to travel to India and work in conjunction with staff from UFV Chandigarh, as well as others from a local NGO, researching food security within the City. (GEOG 398, GDS 311, SOC 398, or INCS 390)

*Please note: To qualify for the QES scholarship programs, students must be in the midst of completing their first degree, have a minimum GPA of 2.67 and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident between the ages of 19 and 35. Internships run for 10 weeks during the Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer Semesters.

Fundamentally… nothing! At UFV, the same rules and regulations apply to both internships and practicums. Students receive academic credit for engaging in an unpaid learning experience that is supervised by a business, NGO, organization, charity, or community group. The academic work they do associated with the internship or practicum is supervised and assessed by a UFV instructor. Both types of experiences require students to submit applications, sign waivers and get contracts signed, etc.

Such experiences are usually called practicums in Canada, but internationally, and even here at home, these types of experiences are called internships. We use both, therefore, to recognize the global context but we follow the rules for practicums to set up all experiences.
