Academic Lifestyle Leader

Research shows that students who maintain their physical health and fitness perform better academically than those who do not. Working under the supervision of the Academic Success Centre Coordinator and as part of a team of other students, you will identify and deliver ways to engage UFV students in improving their physical wellness and be an advocate for fitness as it relates to academic achievement.

Academic Integrity Mentor

Reporting to the Coordinator of the Academic Success Centre, Academic Integrity Mentors will work directly with UFV students requiring or requesting guidance in matters related to academic misconduct. Mentors will participate in UFV events on behalf of the ASC to promote academic integrity and to increase other students’ awareness of its role in their own academic journey. Mentors will help shape UFV students’ understanding of plagiarism, copyright laws, cheating, improper research practices, and other issues related to academic misconduct. In addition, mentors will collaborate (with each other and with other teams of ASC employees) to produce documentation and resources relevant to maintaining and promoting academic honesty.

Research Assistant/Writer

The Academic Success Centre is hiring students to work as researchers/writers. Working under the supervision of the Coordinator, you will gather, collate, summarize, and write material as part of the development of programs and online modules to support students’ success and engagement in learning. The successful applicant(s) could also be scheduled for a few hours each week in one of the two ASC offices to support the work done by the student Peer Tutors and have hours scheduled as “flex-time” to attend events and seek out opportunities on campus to promote the ASC.

Social Media Guru

The Academic Success Centre is hiring students to help with social media marketing and activity. Working under the supervision of the Coordinator, you will identify ways to connect the ASC with UFV students online through social media channels, and you will help collect and create content to be used on social media. The successful applicant(s) could also be scheduled for a few hours each week in one of the two ASC offices to support the work done by the student Peer Tutors and have hours scheduled as “flex-time” to attend events and seek out opportunities on campus to promote the ASC.

Digital Designer

The Academic Success Centre is hiring students to help with producing materials for web and print that will promote ASC services and engage students in learning support opportunities. Working under the supervision of the Coordinator, you will help collect and create visual content to be used for social media, posters, brochures and other promotional resources; and for academic support resources for students. The successful applicant(s) could also be scheduled for a few hours each week in one of the two ASC offices to support the work done by the student Peer Tutors and have hours scheduled as “flex-time” to attend events and seek out opportunities on campus to promote the ASC.

Language Exchange Leader

Reporting to the Coordinator of the Academic Success Centre, you will work directly with UFV students who want to improve their ability to communicate in a second or additional language. As Language Exchange Leader, you will be responsible for promoting, organizing, and leading Academic Success Centre initiatives to students looking for opportunities to speak a non-native language with other students. This will involve tasks such as identifying content and material relevant to supporting language students in informal learning environments and maintaining records as directed by the Coordinator. The Language Exchange Leader will participate in language learning groups as well as facilitating them. The successful applicant must have strong skills in at least one language other than their native tongue.
