JAPN 101:
Japanese Language 1 3 credits
Prerequisites: none
Transferability: SFU, OU, TWU, UVic, and, with JAPN 102, UBC
This course, designed for students who have little or no knowledge of Japanese, offers a comprehensive introduction to modern Japanese, through the study of vocabulary, grammar, and culture. The course will include an intensive study of the Japanese writing systems (Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji). Through the use of various communicative techniques, we teach you to speak, understand, read, and write Japanese. The course includes extensive use of the multimedia laboratory.
JAPN 102:
Japanese Language II 3 credits
Prerequisite: Japanese 101 or instructor’s permission
Transferability: SFU, OU, TWU, UVic, and, with JAPN 101, UBC
This course, designed for students who have completed Japanese 101 or the equivalent, continues to develop your ability to speak, understand, read, and write Japanese by focussing on vocabulary, grammar, and culture as well as the Japanese writing systems. The course includes extensive use of the multimedia laboratory
