UFV offers a Communications minor, a Professional Communication
Essentials certificate, a Portfolio Essentials certificate, and an Introduction to Journalism certificate, as well as courses that focus on professional, technical, and electronic communications. These courses are an important part of many UFV programs, including Adult Education, Agriculture, Aviation, Business Administration, Child and Youth Care, Computer Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Kinesiology and Physical Education, Media and Communication Studies, Social Services, and Trades.
Students in Communications and Critical Studies and Methodologies courses are expected to have access to the Internet, be capable of retrieving digital materials, and be prepared to participate in online class discussions and activities.

Communications courses (except CSM 104, CSM 108 and CMNS 115) require some
proficiency with email, web-based research, and word-processing packages. CMNS
125, 155, 251, 325, 351, and 360 are offered online, as well as in classroom format.
