English language proficiency requirements

Students registering in post-secondary level courses (numbered 100 to 499) will be required to meet the English language entrance proficiency requirements. Students in ELS or the University Foundations programs can register in those courses identified in the University Foundations program with lower levels of language proficiency.


Please note that not all courses are offered every semester.

PORT 398

3 credits

Portfolio I: Bridging University and Career

Prerequisite(s): 60 university level credits including at least 6 credits completed at UFV, or permission of Integrated Studies program chair.

Corequisite(s): None.

Pre- or corequisite(s): None.

Integration of critical, reflective assessments into school-work-life balance and professional change and advancement. Students will explore diverse perspectives on the meaning of work, articulate personal and professional values embedded in one’s work and plan for advancement, and create an individualized plan that bridges university learning and professional practices and expectations.

Note: Students with credit for ARTS 299 or ADED 472 cannot take this course for further credit.

PORT 399

3 credits

Portfolio II Career Development: Designing Career Mobility

Prerequisite(s): 75 university-level credits including one of PORT 398, ARTS 101, ARTS 299, or ADED 472.

Corequisite(s): None.

Pre- or corequisite(s): None.

Drawing on skills learned throughout their degree, students will research and learn strategies needed for a successful transition from university into work, graduate studies, or post-university life; or for increasing their career mobility. Students will engage in critical discussions and produce assignments related to professional practices, participation in a learning economy, the future of work, and their exploration of career mobility throughout a lifespan as a way to design their work/life career pathways.
