Course code and number
The course code and number indicate the specific course and its level. Courses numbered 200 are generally considered second year, 300 are third year, etc.
Credit valueThe number of credits indicates the academic value of a course. Credits may be used in program requirements, prerequisites and fee assessment.
This section gives a brief overview of the course.
Prerequisites and corequisites
Prerequisite: a specific course, or courses (or other requirement), that must be successfully completed prior to registration. A minimum grade of C- is required.
Corequisite: a specific course, or courses, which must be taken at
the same time as a registered course.

Prerequisites/co-requisites are requirements needed prior to, or concurrent with, your registration in a course. A prerequisite refers to a specific course (or other requirement) that must be successfully completed prior to registration. A minimum grade of C- is required.
It is understood that you may seek instructor’s written permission if you feel that your experience/knowledge is sufficient to warrant exemption from the stated prerequisite or corequisite. This written permission must be presented at the time of registration.
Even though many university-level courses have no prerequisite listed, it is expected that those enrolling have university-level reading, writing, and research skills. If you are unsure of your ability level or want to improve your skills, we suggest you enrol in ENGL 099: Pre-University Composition, or CSM 108: Critical Analysis and Learning, or write the Composition Placement Test (CPT). CPT details are available through Assessment Services. For details about CSM 108 and ENGL 099, please read the course descriptions.
Unless otherwise stated, any BC secondary course used for program entrance requirements or course prerequisites must be completed for full value (4 credits).
If a course is given a new number, the former number is shown below the title in the course description. Retaking a course, even with its new number, is considered repeating the course. Please see this section for details on repeated courses and the effect on GPA.
