The Faculty of Health Sciences at UFV invites applications from qualified individuals for the position of Nursing Laboratory Coordinator. Please note this is a non-teaching position. Nursing laboratory facilities are used by students in the Health Care Assistant, Practical Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs at UFV.
The primary responsibilities of this position include: ensuring that the labs are safe and support the faculty's instruction; physical set up labs, equipment and learning aids; planning and collaborating with nursing faculty as required; supervising students during lab practice sessions and remedial labs; managing supplies and minor equipment; maintaining nursing and simulation laboratories; identifying needs and priorities for capital equipment; liaising with hospitals, other health care agencies and supply company representatives regarding the purchase of supplies/equipment; liaising with other educational institutions, preparing educational technologies for use by students and instructors; participating in the required set-up and support role for simulation learning in consultation with faculty; and completing other assigned tasks related to preparation for student laboratory and clinical practice experiences.
The successful applicant will have licensure (or eligibility for licensure) with CRNBC and a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. A strong clinical practice foundation in acute medical-surgical nursing is required. The successful applicant will possess strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration and organizational skills. Previous experience in nursing and simulation laboratory settings in an educational institution is preferred. Program and/or project development skills would be considered assets.
