Working with the University Registrar and others, the Senior Associate Registrar provides leadership and strategic direction on the provision of services to students, faculty and staff, with specific responsibilities in the areas of student recruitment, admission, transfer, and transition to enrolment. The Senior Associate Registrar provides leadership in the development and provision of a comprehensive set of services and supports to ensure a positive experience for prospective students and applicants from initial contact through to admission and registration. The Senior Associate Registrar, with other leaders in the Office of the Registrar provides leadership in the development of services and administrative support to students and academic units to promote student academic success.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Recruitment of domestic students to undergraduate, technical and developmental level programs, working to established targets where indicated in the university enrolment plan
  • Liaises with the International Office to ensure effective coordination and collaboration on the recruitment and admission of International Students
  • Works with graduate program coordinators as necessary on general and specific matters of graduate student recruitment
  • Establishes recruitment practices that are both strategic and tactical as well as in in support of the University Strategic Enrolment Management Plan
  • Oversees the admissions process and provides direction on the best practices for the admission of students.  Interprets admission policies, and ensures practices and procedures result in consistent and timely treatment of all applicants
  • Continually analyses, reviews and monitors admission processes and practices ensuring they are current, efficient, effective and relevant
  • Implements credential evaluation practices that are compliant with University Policy and follow current best practices
  • Makes recommendations to university leaders and committees on changes to admission policies consistent with the UFV Strategic Enrolment Management Plan, and best practices in the field
  • Ensures proposed changes to University curricula are consistent with University policies and Calendar regulations with respect to admission and transfer
  • Coordinates with the Marketing and Communications Office to prepare a suite of recruitment and admission publications
  • Collaborates with key university stakeholders and participates in University Committees as required
  • Takes a leadership role in, and provides support on, key University events including Convocation and Open House
  • Takes an active role in the post-secondary community (local, national and international) and related professional associations
  • Acts as University Registrar and assumes leadership of the office when the University Registrar is away or unavailable



Master’s degree from a recognized University or equivalent level of education, training and experience. Additional training or certification in Strategic Enrolment Management is an asset. A minimum of seven (7) years of significant experience in an enrolment services or registrarial organization, including five (5) years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience in one or more areas of admissions, recruitment, enrolment management or student records. Experience with supporting an institutional or divisional Strategic Enrolment Plan. Demonstrated experience in managing short and long term, high visibility complex projects with attention to detail. Demonstrated experience in leading effectively and working independently while maintaining close contact with the University Registrar. High level of discretion and maturity with excellent organization skills. Demonstrated experience in prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Detailed knowledge of Canadian and international Post-Secondary systems. In-depth understanding of the student experience, the student life cycle and the impact of registrarial functions on the student experience. Strong demonstrated supervisory and coaching skills. Demonstrated ability to set clear direction and monitor progress. Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated ability to act with tact and diplomacy.
