Job summary

The Counselling department invites applications for a 100% full-time permanent Counsellor.  All Counsellors are required to serve all campuses as necessary.

As a member of the Counselling Department within Student Services, the Counsellors will provide clinical counselling in the areas of career, personal, crisis, student success and study skills. The Counsellors will also provide workshop facilitation and other support services to traditional and non-traditional UFV students on an individual and group basis. The Counsellors will share in other departmental duties as required.


The successful candidate must have:

  • A minimum of a completed Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, including one year of supervised clinical counselling training;
  • A minimum of one-year experience as a Counsellor in a post-secondary environment, with preference given to those with 1+ years of career, personal, crisis and student success counselling at a post-secondary institution within the past five years;
  • Formal training or coursework and experience in career counselling, personal counselling, crisis counselling and cross-cultural counselling;
  • Experience working with multi-and cross-cultural issues, with preference given to those have this experience in a post-secondary setting; and
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating workshops.
