Job summary

The Department of Psychology invites applications for a full-time, permanent appointment in Social Psychology to begin in August 2020, pending budgetary approval. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses such as Social Psychology and Psychology of Groups, as well as introduction to psychology. Ability to teach Psychology of Health is an asset.

We seek applicants who share our passion for, and commitment to, excellence in undergraduate teaching in a student-centered environment; who can develop new and innovative courses; successfully integrate their scholarship or research into their teaching; and develop experiential or research opportunities for students. Ability to mentor and supervise undergraduate students is necessary.

Applicants will have a record of research productivity commensurate with their experience and demonstrated ability to establish a successful research program. The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in departmental activities, service, events, and initiatives. A commitment to an ongoing program of professional development is required.

Opportunities to participate in cross-faculty discussions and research in the area of Health and Wellness, or community psychology, are available. We seek applicants who have an ability to collaborate effectively with community partners.

We particularly encourage applications from Indigenous scholars or teachers or researchers with experience of racialization or colonization.


  • A PhD in Social Psychology 
  • At least one year (or equivalent) of successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching
  • Demonstrable experience in technology-supported teaching (e.g. hybrid, on-line, and computer-assisted learning), and experience working with diverse student or community populations, are assets
  • Ability to work in team situations
