Prerequisite: Electrical Level 2 or higher, or Electrical Engineer
Learn how you can save time and money by automating your control work. Discover the ease of wiring, connecting to, and programming a PLC. Starting with a basic PLC from the Schneider Zelio family of smart-relays, this course takes you all the way through to the ABB PM-500 family of ethernet-connected and tag-based PLC’s. The course covers topics from selecting and designing the physical components and wiring, to programming, testing, and commissioning your PLC. This is a trade specific course that highlights the simplicity and power of these controllers. You learn to write programs in two different styles: Function Block and Ladder Logic. Your 30 hours of hands-on training takes place in UFV’s full automation lab, where you can program and wire your class projects on functioning PLC’s.
- You must bring a personal laptop with Windows XP or higher to each class. (The software is not compatible with Windows 8)
- A USB with class exercises, documentation, Schneider ZelioSoft, ABB Automation builder, and CodeSys is provided.
- Ensure that you have at least one USB 2.0 port and one ethernet port on your laptop
