How to apply

1

Apply to UFV

Apply through the appropriate application portal for your student status: domestic, international, or continuing.

Application deadline:

Fall intake opens annually on October 1, closes annually April 30, with deadline of April 1 for international applicants.

Winter intake opens annually on May 1, closes annually September 30, with deadline of September 1 for international applicants.

International applicants, please note: International applications and portfolios will be accepted until April 1 for the fall intake, and September 1 for the winter intake. Please follow these deadlines to ensure adequate processing time for immigration documents. For more information specific to international admission, please contact UFV International at 604-854-4544 or visit the UFV International website.

2

Submit your portfolio

Follow the portfolio submission guidelines to prepare your portfolio, if one is required for entrance to your program. Most portfolios require 10 to 12 pieces of original work, a résumé and written reflections – please confirm the exact requirements for your specific program. Submit your portfolio using Slideroom. Incomplete portfolios may compromise your acceptance into the program.

Please follow portfolio requirements carefully and submit all essential items.

Portfolio submission deadlines:

  • Fall intake
    • April 1 for international and early bird applicants
    • April 30 final deadline
  • Winter intake
    • September 1 for international and early bird applicants
    • September 30 final deadline

If you apply after the deadline, please contact Paula Funk Paula.Funk@ufv.ca Academic Advisor for Fine Arts, Design, and Media, to discuss the possibility of a submission extension.

Attend New Student Orientation

The New Student Orientation provides campus and studio tours, an introduction to your Academic Advisor, a program planning tutorial, and a course registration workshop. This event takes place in May and November each year. Sign up in advance to save your spot.

4

Wait for your acceptance letter

All accepted applicants will receive a letter of acceptance from the Office of the Registrar. To accept your offer and secure your seat in the Visual Arts program, pay your $200 registration deposit. View payment methods.

5

Register for courses

Begin your program planning prior to registering for courses. You may also choose to see an advisor to assist you with your planning.

Course registration takes place after the admissions process is finalized, typically beginning in mid-June for fall semester and mid-November for winter semester. Follow the steps to find out how to register and use the myUFV portal to find your pre-assigned registration time.
