Educators Without Border speaker series
In August 2012, Kim White (a Human Rights Advisor here at UFV) had an opportunity to teach in Arusha, Tanzania.
For just over two weeks, she was involved with Jitihada Support Ltd, a nonprofit organization engaged in educating and feeding the extremely poor and disadvantaged.
This orphanage/school provides three educational streams: primary, middle and youth. She was amazed to learn that some of the primary students walked up to three hours a day to get to school so they could eat and learn.
Kim’s opportunity came in bringing education and fun to the youth who ranged in age from 14–20 yrs. Please come to hear about the laughs, the learning, the heartache, and the letting go of how things ‘ought to be’.
