Earlier this year, Hope Centre received a drum made by UFV Elder Theresa Neel’s niece Joan Glendale. Hope Centre ran an art contest open to Hope Centre students and awarded UFV student Daniel Desmeules the right to paint the drum on Oct 25th.

On November 20th we will be having a drum ceremony to mark the beginning of the drum’s use at UFV Hope. It will be open to the UFV Community and the Hope and area First Nations communities. UFV Hope student and drummer Arnold John, who also drummed and smudged for our Residential Schools Day of Learning in Hope - you can see the pictures here http://www.flickr.com/photos/ufv/sets/72157635955136115/  will be doing the drumming. Theresa Neel will read the history of the drum’s beginning..
