Top five reasons to choose UFV

A great place to live and study

One of the fastest growing regions in Canada, the Fraser Valley is close to Metro Vancouver, the USA border, and the Abbotsford International Airport.

With its temperate weather, thriving cities, and breathtaking scenery, this affluent region provides an exceptional quality of life that makes it an ideal place to live and study. You get to enjoy affordable housing — especially if you’re able to live at home — an ethnically diverse community, and easy access to natural attractions and recreational opportunities.

A rich learning environment

UFV is home to students and instructors from around the world. We offer over 100 programs and 700 classes in a variety of fields, including business, sciences, media, arts, healthcare, IT, and more

If you decide you want to switch programs after your first year to try something new, go for it! You will have the opportunity to sample classes from many different disciplines, discovering what you really enjoy along the way. And while you are here, join one of the 70 student clubs and organizations and get more out of your university education.

Flexible programming

At UFV you have the choice of studying part-time or full-time; you can take classes during the day, in the evening, on Saturdays, or online. We also offer a full semester and two condensed semesters, if you want to study in the summer. You’re free to make a schedule that fits your life.

And if we do not have the program you want, you can begin your studies at UFV and transfer to another BC university with full credit (BC transfer system).

Moreover, UFV recognizes and values the learning you have acquired in the workforce. You may qualify for flexible entrance into a UFV program at a more advanced level, based on what you already know. Ask about our prior learning assessment services.

A top university in BC

In Canada, for the last decade, the Globe and Mail has surveyed 20,000 undergraduate students to rank universities. In the Globe and Mail Canadian University Report, UFV is rated as the top public university in BC based on quality of education, faculty knowledge and class sizes. It goes to show that our students love it here.

A focus on your success

At UFV, you are number one. Our focus is on your success while in university and beyond. UFV's smaller class sizes allow individual attention, creative learning, and one-on-one time with your instructors. Whether you need academic advice, counseling, career services, or even help with an assignment, there is somebody here to offer you personalized advice and support. UFV is large enough to offer a great selection of programs, but small enough to care about you.
