Internships 2013

Are you interested in an internship in East Africa, India or Mexico? Some internships start as early as May 2013 and others not until September 2013. Internships may be fully funded, partially funded or self-funded. Placements include working with NGOs, the private sector and research institutes on a variety of projects that range from education, urban farming, green technology initiatives, informal settlement upgrading, event coordination, program promotion and other opportunities. Global Development Institute – CIDA funded $6500

4 funded internships for Fall 2013 in Tanzania in partnership with Ardhi University in Dar es Salaam. Students will work on issues of urban planning, sustainable settlements, community capacity building, environmental vulnerabilities and child friendly environments.

4 funded internships for Fall 2013 (leaving last week of August) in Chandigarh, India, in partnership with Panjab University and two NGOs. Students will work on sustainable settlements, vulnerability assessments, community mapping, community health education, small business creation and urban agriculture.


Centre of Indo-Canadian Studies Internship Opportunity – funded plus stipend

One Event Coordinator for 4 weeks in Chandigarh, plus optional weeks with NGO. Plan, implement and execute a stakeholders forum at Panjab University, in Chandigarh, India.


UFV BBA Chandigarh Internship – Most costs covered

One intern for Program Recruitment Initiatives with the UFV BBA in Chandigarh starting in July until November 2013.


Unfunded Internships

4 internships in Oaxaca, Mexico in partnership with various NGOs working with Indigenous youth in transition, farmer groups or in San Cristobal, Mexico with a women’s textile cooperative.

Multiple internships available in East Africa starting in both May and September 2013. Placement positions vary widely from working with NGOs, the private sector and in research related projects. Placements range from curriculum development to green technology initiatives to working with a legal firm on rights issues.

There are also local opportunities for students beginning as early as May 2013 with a variety of organisations in environment, human rights and community development.
