Research Studies Scholarship

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of the Government of Japan offers scholarships to Canadian students wishing to pursue their studies at a Japanese university. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2016 Research Studies scholarship.

Eligibility:  The Research Studies Scholarship is aimed at university graduates, born on or after April 2, 1981 (for the 2016 scholarship year) who wish to study as research students. The research study area should be the same field that the applicant has studied or a related field.  

Duration:  The term of the scholarship is 18 months to two years (including 6 months of Japanese language training) starting in April or October 2016.

Application Deadline:
  May 15th.

Forms:  Application guides and forms are available on the Consulate General of Japan's website:
www.vancouver.ca.emb-japan.go.jp/en/culture/mext.htm. Applicants who successfully pass the written application screening are required to undertake an interview and examination (English and Japanese language) to be held in late June/early July.
