UFV School of Business and Chinook Helicopters collaborate on Aviation Diploma
The UFV School of Business has started a new collaborative effort with Chinook Helicopters in Abbotsford to add to its respected 2-years Aviation Diploma a rotary wings stream, known as a helicopter stream.
This new program builds on a decades-long partnership with Chinook Helicopters. Chinook Helicopters was established in 1982 and provides a full spectrum of basic and specialized advanced flight and ground training to the global community. Chinook is a privately owned, family-run training school that has become Canada’s premiere helicopter training organization.
Building on the shared values of personalized, high quality student training, the partnership between UFV School of Business and Chinook Helicopters represents the next evolution in helicopter pilot training and UFV’s Aviation Diploma program. In the words of Chinook Helicopters owner Cathy Press, “even though our facilities have greatly expanded, we haven’t lost the personal touch.”
In partnering with Chinook Helicopters, the UFV School of Business will be able to offer those students looking to pursue a career in aviation a unique opportunity.
In addition to the fixed wings option, students in the diploma program will soon be able to opt for a first-class helicopter pilot training, while at the same time be prepared to assume management responsibilities for an airline or airport.
Students of the planned program will graduate with industry relevant experience, knowledge of how to market themselves to employers, and a helicopter pilot’s license which meets Transport Canada’s standards.
