Dr. Adrienne Chan,

Dr. Adrienne Chan has been a faculty member at UFV in the School of Social Work and Social Services since 2004, and was acting in the AVP role from Fall 2012 to Spring 2013. Her position as AVP was made permanent in May 2013.
The central tasks of this position include leading and supporting the development of research activities among faculty and students, leveraging research and scholarship to foster community engagement with the region, fostering the integration of teaching and research, increasing overall research funding from traditional and alternative sources. There is a need to develop an increasing awareness of available funding opportunities for faculty members and help them to procure these funds. The overarching goal is the promotion of faculty and student research, and scholarship accomplishments internally and externally. Brad Whittaker, Director

Brad is the Director of Research Services and Industry Liaison. Brad is a valuable resource for researchers in applying for and administering all stages of grants, hiring assistants, and general research activities. He is well connected with the major granting agencies and very involved in community groups. Brad is also an excellent resource person for students applying for graduate research scholarships. Brad would like to meet you to discuss your research interests.
Brad holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia, PDP from Simon Fraser University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria. Brad is very active in the Chilliwack community. He is a member of the Chilliwack Social Research and planning Council, The Rotary Club of Chilliwack, the Chilliwack Players Guild and many more organizations. Brad enjoys motorcycling. He grew up on Vancouver Island and currently lives in the Fraser Valley with his partner Kim, and their dog & cats.
Deborah Block, Executive Assistant to the Associate Vice President

Deborah provides administrative support for the AVP, the Research Advisory Council, the Senate Research Committee, and the Senate Graduate Studies Committee. She administers student conference grants and Undergraduate Research Excellence awards, oversees planning of events including Student Research Day and the URE Awards dinner, and takes care of the budgets. Deborah also coordinates the administration of graduate programs and is a good first contact for research and graduate studies related queries.
Deborah grew up in the Fraser Valley and has worked at UFV since 1978 in various areas including administration, continuing education, and academic departments (as assistant and student advisor).
Ethics, Grants, & Compliance Officer

Yvette is a UFV graduate. She works in the Research Office as the Ethics, Grants and Compliance Officer. Yvette is responsible for managing the human research ethics board and animal care committee. Yvette also supports the Director of Research Services in developing, writing and administering internal and external research grants and contracts, including pre/post award management, and compliance with all federal and provincial regulations governing human research ethics, animal care, biosafety, and radiation safety. Yvette lives in the Fraser Valley with her husband and two children.
Yvette has a BA in Psychology from UFV.

Kelly is responsible for supporting Research Option, Scholarly Activity Option, and Sabbatical applications. Kelly also supports committees and provides general administrative assistance to the office, coordinates and promotes engagement events such as the Faculty and Student Microlectures, Research Excellence Awards, Student Research Day, and research workshops.
Kelly is currently finishing her BA in English at Simon Fraser University. She grew up in Vancouver, and now lives in the Fraser Valley with her husband and son.
