Move-in and housing orientation

Welcome new and returning students! The UFV Housing Operations and Campus Leaving teams have developed several resources to help you feel confident about moving into and living in Baker House.

On this page you will find information about when you can move in, how to book your move-in date and time, and ideas on what to bring.

Attend fun and informative events desgined for students moving into housing. Participating in Housing and Campus living events and activities is a great way to prepare for lingin in student housing, to make connections with your 'neighbours', and to settle in before classes start.

Move-in information

Congratulations on confirming your room in UFV On-Campus Housing!

Below you will find everything you need to help make your move-in a smooth and welcoming experience.

Academic 2021-22/Fall 2021 Move-in

In order to ensure the health and safety of staff and students, move-in dates/times for residents (new, returning, international, and domestic) will be by appointment only.

Keep in mind that students will be required to comply with move-in procedures and community living standards in order to meet BC Provincial Health regulations. Campus Living and Housing Operations will communicate this information to confirmed students to your UFV student email during the application process. 

International Student Move-in Period

  • August 30 to September 5, 2021
  • Move-in will be by appointment only. A link will be sent to you to book your move-in date/time only after you have completed all move-in requirements. 
  • Please be reminded that we are unable to support the mandatory 14-day quarantine period in housing. Please be sure to plan ahead when booking your travel, quarantine period, and move-in appointment.

Domestic Student Move-in Period

  • September 6 to 12, 2021
  • Move-in will be by appointment only. A link will be sent to you to book your move-in date/time only after you have completed all move-in requirements. 

All students will be allowed one (1) move-in helper. Guests must leave immediately after assisting with your move-in, no overnight stays. There is a no external guest policy for Fall 2021. Masks are mandatory for anyone entering the building.

Arriving BEFORE or AFTER the official move-in date

If you cannot move in during the official move-in period or on your scheduled date, please contact immediately.

  • Please note that there is an adminstrative fee of $200 for those who do not move in on their assigned date/time (or show up without an appointment) and additional nightly charges of $25 per day may apply.

Here are a few items that are not allowed in the residence halls or they are already provided:

      • Air-conditioners
      • Candles
      • Firearms/Weapons
      • Fireworks
      • Furniture
      • Grills with an open heat element
      • Grills or hotplates
      • Halogen lights, including lava lamps
      • Iron & ironing board (provided in laundry rooms)
      • Microwaves (provided)
      • Pets
      • Space heaters
      • Toaster ovens

Assistance on your move-in day

Staff will greet and check students in during move-in.

Students will be allowed one (1) move-in helper. Currently, there is a no external guest policy in Baker House. Your move-in helper must leave after you have moved in.

Parking will be free on official move-in dates. Please use the loading zone outside of Baker House to unload and then move your vehicle to Parking Lot 10 across the road. If you have underground parking, a parking tag will be provided in your move-in package upon check-in.
