Risk and Safety

Risk and Safety

At UFV, you’ll find everything from chem labs to classrooms to construction zones. Wherever you are — in a conference room, your favourite study spot, or walking across the parking lot — we are committed to making sure you feel safe and secure.

The Risk & Safety team encourages employees, faculty, students, and visitors to explore and make use of the resources within this website. Please help us create a culture where we all look out for each other’s safety and manage risks well.

Risk & Safety Announcements

New Emergency Assembly Area Signage installed

The department of Risk & Safety and Emergency Management is pleased to announce that during December of 2020 new signage indicating the Emergency Assembly Areas was installed at all of the UFV campuses.‌

The new signs are bright orange with green trim, can be identified with the assembly area logo and with the specific site marker. If there's a need to evacuate a UFV building, please head to the closest emergency assembly area. These are spaces of increased safety and are large enough to allow employees and students to gather and wait for further instructions. Please familiarize yourself with the emergency assembly areas on your campus.

Floor warden training

Floor wardens are UFV employees trained to guide the UFV community during emergency evacuations. They also help prevent unsafe conditions that could lead to evacuations.
UFV Risk & Safety will be hosting Zoom training sessions for those who would like to volunteer.

Training Sessions Available:

Dates: January 19 & 27
Times: 11:00 – 12:00
Location: On-line via Zoom

Please contact Risk & Safety if you are interested in attending this training, or if you have questions about becoming a floor warden.
