Door Access Card Readers and Keypads

Why is UFV installing door access card readers and keypads?
Card readers and keypads provide increased security measures to access-control and are more efficient and cost effective than traditional keys.

What are the benefits of door access card readers and keypads?
Card readers and keypads can be programmed to accept passcodes, Campus Cards, and/or a combination of the two for increased security. Programming is managed on-site and doors can be locked/unlocked remotely. In the event of a reported lost or stolen Campus Card, Security can immediately deactivate the card.

Where are door access card readers and keypads being installed?
The goal is to phase out all use of traditional keys and install either door access card readers or keypads – or a combination of the two – on all campus doors. Note: project completion is expected to take 5-7 years.

Campus Cards with Door Access

What do I do first? Get my Campus Card, or submit the Access Request Form to receive door access (rather than a key)?
First, complete the Access Request Form and submit to KeyRequests@ufv.ca. Next, visit the Campus Card Office (check their website for campus locations, hours of operation, and a check-list of what to bring with you!).

How long will it take to process my request and where do I pick-up from?
Please allow approximately 2-3 business days for processing campus card door access requests. You will be notified by email (UFV email account) when your request has been processed and (if applicable) where to pick-up from.

What do I do if I tried to get my Campus Card, but the system appears to not have my information?
Your information becomes available once your contract begins. For further inquiries, please contact the Campus Card Office: campuscard@ufv.ca or 1-888-504-7441 ext. 4176.

What do I do if I need to add or remove access to my Campus Card?
If you need to add or change room access on your card, please complete the online Access Request Form and submit to KeyRequests@ufv.ca

How do I use my Campus Card for door access?
Place your card up against the black card reader and a green LED light will indicate that access is granted. A red LED light indicates your card doesn’t have the appropriate access requirements, or you may need to try again because the reader didn’t properly read your card.

Where can I find more information on door access and security related matters?
