Biography

Responsibilities:

The Vice President, Students is responsible for providing leadership in fulfilling the University’s commitment to student success. The VP oversees a diverse portfolio which includes Athletics and Campus Recreation, the Career Centre, the Office of the Registrar, Student Life and Development, Counselling Services, the Centre for Accessibility Services, and Financial Aid and Awards. The unit also works closely with other units providing support to students on campus and collaborates with academic units in order to promote integrated approaches to student success. The VP also takes responsibility for enrolment management strategies which serve institutional goals, values, and commitments and which align with UFV’s Education Plan.

Areas of Specialization and Scholarly Activity:

Leadership and academic administration
Student transition and success in post-secondary education
Program and curriculum design, review, and revision
Learning outcome creation and mapping
Student mobility and transfer, domestic and international
Authentic assessment, including PLAR and portfolio
Post-secondary teaching and learning
Policy creation and revision
European socio-cultural history, including gender, race, class, and nation; intellectual history; and popular culture, particularly girls’ magazines
