Outstanding achievement
- One teacher candidate in each BEd option is recognized each year for outstanding achievement. These teacher candidates have demonstrated strength and excellence in their coursework and practica. They are leaders in the cohort and have demonstrated exceptional ability to incorporate the department values and program goals into their daily lives. The outstanding teacher candidates are selected through a process of nominations by faculty and mentors and are recognized with a letter/certificate from the dean of the Faculty of Professional Studies. A special notation is made in the convocation booklet.
Student speaker
- Every year, one student from the Faculty of Professional Studies will be selected to represent all students at convocation with an address as student speaker. It is a great honour to be selected as convocation speaker and the nominee is a well-rounded student with excellent public speaking skills. Nomination are gathered every year by the Teacher Education department from faculty, mentors and teacher candidates, and a final nominee is recommended to a UFV-wide committee. The selected individual receives an honorary certificate, a letter from the dean of the Faculty of Professional Studies, and is featured in the convocation booklet.
