UFV offers a Communications minor, a Professional Communication Essentials certificate, a Portfolio Essentials certificate, and an Introduction to Journalism certificate, as well as courses that focus on professional, technical, and electronic communications. These courses are an important part of many UFV programs, including Adult Education, Agriculture, Aviation, Business Administration, Child and Youth Care, Computer Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Kinesiology, Media and Communication Studies, Social Services, and Trades.

Students in Communications and Critical Analysis and Study Methodology (CSM) courses are expected to have access to the Internet, be capable of retrieving digital materials, and be prepared to participate in online class discussions and activities.

All Communications and Critical Analysis and Study Methodology courses require some proficiency with email, web-based research, and word-processing packages. Many Communications courses are offered in a number of formats including online, hybrid, and face-to-face. Students should check before registration that the course is offered in a manner that suits their learning style.
