Creative Writing extended minor

The Creative Writing extended minor may be paired with the Visual Arts major as part of the Bachelor of Fine Arts program, or with any other BFA extended minor as listed in the BFA section of the calendar. This section specifies the extended minor requirements only. Please refer to the Bachelor of Fine Arts section for information on additional requirements, including requirements for declaring an extended minor.

Lower-level requirements: 18 credits

  • 12 credits of 100- or 200-level creative writing courses (see Note)
  • Six credits of 100- or 200-level English other than creative writing courses (see Note)

Note: Lower-level creative writing courses are ENGL 104, 208 (formerly 111), 211, 212, 213, and 215.

Upper-level requirements: 16 credits

  • Eight credits of upper-level creative writing courses (see Note)
  • Four credits of upper-level English other than creative writing courses (see Note)
  • Four credits from ENGL 405 or 490

Note: Upper-level creative writing courses are ENGL 302, 303, 311, 313, 315, 317, 373, 377, 378, 381, and 405.
