Biography

Surinder S. Jodhka is Professor of Sociology at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has taught at University of Hyderabad and Panjab University. The focus of his research and writing has been the dynamics of caste; agrarian social change in rural India; and the political sociology of community identities. In 2012 he was honoured with the ICSSR-Amartya Sen Award for Distinguished Social Scientists.
