Biography

Esther arrived at the University of the Fraser Valley in 2017 where she completed her Bachelor of Arts three years later, majoring in Sociology, and concentrating in Social Research. As a researcher, her knowledge in quantitative methods allows her to specialize in dataset management, data cleaning and inferential statistics. Esther has presented her work in diverse academic settings including the Canadian Sociological Association in 2019 where she introduced her qualitative study in childlessness, women, and gender. Originally from Spain, Esther has community and international experience from being part of the WWOOF Canada and US, and her living experience in France which gave her the opportunity to learn from diverse community environments. These experiences allowed her to improve her language skills, making her a fluent speaker in Spanish, English and French. At UFV, Esther has been involved in diverse initiatives such as the International Peer Support program, providing consulting service in leadership and international student development for UFV India, and eventually becoming a UFV Senate student representative. Her major research interests focus on international affairs, immigration, vulnerable populations, and followership without losing focus on the intersectionality that these elements have with gender.
